Hidden Gems of Kristiansand – Bragdøya

Want to swim in the lagoon, rent a boat and go kayaking or go on a hiking adventure – Bragdoya has all of these to offer. With the possibility of having an overnight camp in their cosy little cabins or bringing your own tents for the ‘brave ones’. And imagine doing most of these things for free! time is never enough for this beautiful island located in the Kristiansand Fjord.

Bragdoya has a varied terrain with dense forests and rocky beaches, not to forget the sandy beach close to where the boat drops you off. It is easily accessible from Auglandsbukta in Kristiansand, by boat which runs several times a day (except saturday, see timetable) and costs 50 NOK for adults and 25 NOK for children. The short speed-boat journey takes you there in no time and you land right outside the mouth of the famous Saltebua cafe. The cafe has a lot to offer, waffles being the most popular especially with kids. A useful tip – the map for the entire island can also be found here which covers all the hiking paths throughout the island. During summers, there is a boat leaving Kai 6 Kristiansand to Bragdøya. Find timings here.
